Parks and Recreation-"Flu Season"

Credit: NBC

I'm back from Harvard Model UN. The conference prevented me from watching most of the NBC comedies before this point. The show I did get to tonight was Parks and Recreation (which I'm finding to be one of the most constantly funny shows on TV right now). My review of the episode is after the jump.

White Collar-"Forging Bonds"

Because I don't think I will be getting to Royal Pains or Fairly Legal this week I thought I should give White Collar it's own review. My review of tonight's episode is after the jump.

Chuck-"Chuck vs the Gobbler"

My brief review of last night's Chuck is after the jump.

On the Stage: Paper Mill Playhouse's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee-A Very, Very, Very, Very Good Time

The Cast of ...Spelling Bee     Credit: Mark Garvin

Every once in a while I do get to the theater. When I do and if I have something to say on that show expect me to do a blog post about it. Today I saw Paper Mill's latest show and enjoyed it immensely. More thoughts on the show after the jump.

Capsule Reviews week of 1/17/11-The Big Bang Theory, Community, Cougar Town and more

This was a week that I didn't have a lot of time. For weeks like this I'm introducing a new thing called capsule reviews. These are reviews that can range from a sentence to a paragraph and they sum up my view of a show. I'll do these for shows that I don't have a lot of time for or shows that I don't like enough to write out a full review. The first set of capsule reviews is after the jump.

USA Network Roundup-Winter Premieres

Every week I'll do a post with my reviews of USA shows. These shows are usually very lightweight so the reviews will usually be very short. My review of the winter premieres of White Collar and Royal Pains, and the series premiere of  Fairly Legal are after the jump

Parks and Recreation "Go Big or Go Home"

It's so good to have this show back! Last season it was one of the funniest shows on television and now it's back and better then ever! My full review of last night's season premiere after the jump.

NBC Schedule Shakeups and Comcast Merger Approved

Today was a big day for news at NBC.

First off, the merger with Comcast (which is buying 51% of the company NBC Universal) was approved. Robert Greenblatt (the former Showtime chief) has a lot of work to do to try to turn around a network that has had a lot of problems in the past few years (basically since Friends went off the air). NBC right now is a last place network and everything they've tried over the past few years has failed. Although, in his blog, Alan Sepinwall did make a good point. We probably wouldn't have had multiple season of shows like Chuck, Parks and Recreation, or Community if the network hadn't been in the toilet. I guess we should be thankful for that.

And now that I think about it, the network that I watch the most shows on every week is NBC.

In NBC schedule shakeups: Parenthood will remain in the Tuesday at 10PM slot for the rest of the season and Law and Order: Los Angeles was taken out of it's timeslot with no reason given. Parenthood fans (like me) should take this as great news! The show now has a chance of sticking around! For fans of Law and Order: LA I'm not sure what this means. They've been undergoing major casting changes (Skeet Ulrich, Regina Hall, and Megan Boone are out, Alfred Molina moves to the detective postion, Terrence Howard becomes the DA and a new ADA is being cast) and I suspect this is just to give the people over at LOLA more time to implement these changes.

And the Marriage Ref was put on hiatus indefinitely, America's Next Greatest Restaurant is going to replace it in the Sunday timeslot.

How I Met Your Mother-"Last Words"

My review of last night's very good episode of How I Met Your Mother is after the jump.

Chuck-"Chuck vs the Balcony"

My brief review of a very, very good episode of Chuck is after the jump.

Chuck-Season So Far

The Happy Couple!

Another show I will be covering is NBC's Chuck. This show is one of the most consistently good shows out there. It returns from winter hiatus tonight. My lengthy thoughts on this amazing season are after the jump.

How I Met Your Mother-Season so Far

A show that I will be covering regularly is How I Met Your Mother. What I hope to be a great episode airs tonight. In preparation for that episode, my brief thoughts on the season so far are after the jump.

House-Season So Far

Another show I will be covering sparingly-basically when I have something to say about the episode is House. Its midseason premiere is tonight and my thoughts on this show's season so far are after the jump.

Golden Globe Winners-Analysis

From the good (Jim Parsons) to the headscratchers (Glee) my analysis of the TV series winners at the Golden Globes is after the jump.

Golden Globe Picks

Tonight on NBC is the Golden Globes, so I'm writing this to predict (or at least attempt to predict) the winners in the TV categories (Minus miniseries and movie categories). (Later I'll post an analysis on the winners) My picks are after the jump.

What to Expect

Now that the blog is officially up and running it's time to tell what to expect from me on the blog. Basically this will be a place that I review TV shows that are running today. Some will be shows you watch, some will be shows that you don't watch (but you should!). And some will be shows that haven't aired in a long time or are shows that I'm trying to catchup on and will write about.

The shows that you should expect to see reviews on every week are the following

  • Chuck
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • Glee
  • Parenthood
  • Modern Family
  • Cougar Town
  • USA Network Shows: in winter-White Collar, Royal Pains, Fairly Legal
  • NBC Thursday Comedies: Community, The Office, Parks and Recreation, and 30 Rock
You might see some other shows pop up in the future. There are some new shows that look great (The Cape, The Chicago Code, Lights Out) that I haven't decided if I'm going to write about on a weekly basis.

Any requests for other shows for me to review or anything else to ask or say? Please comment.

Old TV Watch Project

Something I'd like to be a part of my new blog is reviewing old TV shows when I watch them. This is something for which I need your input. I'm going to list off some possible series for rewatch and once a week (Probably Sunday) I would do a post on this series.

The Choices are

  • Firefly the Complete Series
  • How I Met Your Mother (season 2)
  • Burn Notice Season 1 and 2
  • Pushing Daisies (Complete Series)
  • Psych (Seasons 2 and 3)
  • Lie to Me (Season 2)
  • The Dresden Files (complete series)
  • Battlestar Galactica (starting with the miniseries then season 1, doing the series eventually)
  • Friday Night Lights (Starting with season 1)
  • 24 Season 8
  • Fringe Season 1
  • Mad Men Season 1
Alright, so I'll get to all of those eventually (hopefully all in 2011). All of these are available from Netflix, most are on watch instantly.

Which of these would you want to watch with me?

Modern Family: "Our Children, Ourselves"

Another Show I should be writing about regularly is the comedy Modern Family. I usually find this show very funny. My thoughts on the episode after the jump.

Parenthood: “Meet the New Boss

Part of my new blog will be writing reviews of shows I've seen. One of the shows I will be writing about weekly is the smart drama Parenthood. My thoughts on last night’s Parenthood (and some on the series in general) are after the jump.

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!

Hello everyone and welcome to my new blog! Here you will find reviews of TV I watch and other random musings. Right now, it’s a little bare, but it’s new. Pictures, logos and such will be coming soon.
Here, the main topic of discussion is going to be TV shows. I'm going to write about many different shows, from many different genres. Some I'll write about weekly, some I won't.

So that's a basic introduction to what this is about. If there's a specific show you want to here about, or have a question, or just want to say hi, leave a comment!
