Golden Globe Winners-Analysis

From the good (Jim Parsons) to the headscratchers (Glee) my analysis of the TV series winners at the Golden Globes is after the jump.

Best TV Series-Drama:
Winner: "Boardwalk Empire"
Honestly this completely surprises me! Never in a million years would I have thought that Boardwalk Empire would win and beat Mad Men's three year winning streak.

Best TV Series-Musical or Comedy:
Winner: "Glee"
People taught me if you don't have anything nice to say...screw it. Glee does not deserve this award. It was up against other shows that were so much better and much funnier that Glee should not have been considered an option. Heck even Nurse Jackie is funnier then Glee. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the HFPA picked this show but I am.

Best Actor in a TV Series-Drama
Winner: Steve Buscemi-"Boardwalk Empire"
I don't watch Boardwalk Empire but I heard he's very good. I wish Jon Hamm or Bryan Cranston won. But still happy for Buscemi, actually I'd be happy if anybody in that category won, even if it wasn't Hamm or Cranston.

Best Actress in a TV Series-Drama:
Winner: Katey Sagal-"Sons of Anarchy"
Yay! I don't watch Sons of Anarchy but I keep hearing about how good her performance is.

Best Actor in a TV Series-Musical or Comedy:
Winner: Jim Parsons-"The Big Bang Theory"
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could not be happier for him. Like I said in the predictions, Parsons is brilliant and knows the character really well. He gives a powerhouse performance every week. Very well deserved.

Best Actress in a TV Series-Musical or Comedy:
Winner: Laura Linny-"The Big C"
Not a surprise at all. I've seen the pilot of this show and she certainly gives a good performance. I'm not sure The Big C is really a comedy but I'll go with it. Great job Laura Linny!

Best Supporting Actor-Television:
Winner: Chris Colfer-"Glee"
I fully endorse this win. Chris Colfer has been one of the only tolerable parts of Glee this season. His work in Grilled Cheesus brought tears to my eyes. Well deserved win!

Best Supporting Actress-Television:
Winner: Jane Lynch-"Glee"
Even if Glee isn't the best show out there and if the writing is crap, Jane Lynch does the best with what she's given. Her character is often badly written but Lynch does a good job, even with that problem. Not my pick but still a deserving win.

  1. I won't go as far as to say that, but it definitely is not as good as it was when it first started.
